Our chosen instrument - #1 - Simon Newbury

One of our creatives has received a parcel in the post and as part of his New Year Resolution, to take and publish a photo a day, Simon Newbury publishes his photo of his instrument of choice.

A friend of mine gave me some pencils recently as part of a new creative group @takingaline. Thesesare very special pencils. As Wikipedia will tell you the Blackwing 602 is a model of pencil that has developed a cult following as "best pencil ever made."

It is a very soft pencil with a wax addition to the lead, and has been advertised as requiring only half of the usual physical effort to produce the marking, or as the pencil states "Half the pressure, twice the speed!" The pencil was used mainly by artists, writers and musicians, including Oscar winning animation director Chuck Jones, author John Steinbeck and record producer Quincy Jones, and now me - I look forward to having a scribble! #365dayphotochallenge 7/365 - Simon Newbury

Taking a line...Introduction

Hello World...

This blog is here to provide a platform for creatives - those people that toil away to one day keep you amused - that share a common instrument. It is here to promote their work through a variety of social media channels as well. The posts will be provided by these creatives who will either show off their work or the work of another creative whose work inspires the creative.

Got it, I will be asking questions at the end.

The common instrument is the pencil - specifically the Palomino Blackwing and the Palomino Blacking 602 which has found a recent revival. A post on the pencil will be provided at some point soon. It must be noted here that this post, this blog and the creatives are in no way funded by Palomino.
